In 2018, the Telethon celebrates advances in research and highlights civic, scientific and therapeutic Victories. Join us on December 7 and 8, 2018.
The Telethon 2018 was kicked off on September 15, at the “Grande Fête des Familles” (a large AFM-Telethon event gathering families affected by neuromuscular diseases, volunteers, researchers and partners of AFM-Telethon). The name of the patron was unveiled at this occasion: it will be Pascal Obispo, a very popular French singer. The campaign posters for 2018 were also revealed, together with their slogan: “V like liVing, oVercoming, Victories”
Sixty years after the creation of AFM-Telethon, the first treatments for diseases which had long been regarded as incurable begin to arrive, and gene therapy successes proliferate throughout the world. Limits deemed impassable have been pushed, paving the way for a new medicine tackling hereditary blood, eye, liver, or muscles diseases, and giving ammunition to defeat cancers, neurodegenerative diseases….
You, the Telethon’s donors, volunteers and partners, play a decisive role in this medical revolution. Thanks to your support, hope becomes concrete for thousands of families who, for 60 years, have fought against genetic fatality”, said Laurence Tiennot-Herment, President of AFM-Telethon.
In 2018, overcoming the disease becomes possible… is possible!
