AFM-Téléthon founded in 2011 the Biotherapies Institute for Rare Diseases, which includes the main research centers supported by the Association: the Institute of Myology, Généthon, I-Stem. Over 600 experts work within this Institute.

With over 600 experts, this institute “without walls” is a unique and exceptional force. Its goal: speeding up the development of drugs against rare diseases. These treatments will also help, in the future, to treat more frequent diseases.

Almost 35 years after the first Telethon, more and more research projects are almost ready to transform into treatments. To keep moving forward on the path that leads to treatments, AFM-Téléthon decided to combine Généthon, the Institute of Myology, and I-Stem, all together into the Biotherapies Institute for rare diseases (Institut des Biotherapies pour les maladies rares). This institute will allow biotherapies to be more visible and more efficient.
